riori2024. JP. Arbor
An analog audiovisual performance where an old Japanese iron cooking pot becomes an instrument connected to a light and speaker. Touching the pot with a metal stick closes the circuit, producing light and sound, embodying the energy brought through and forth from the pot.
The title riori is a play on the Japanese words ryōri (“cooking”) and irori (“hearth”) as a process, place, and symbol for the transmutation of light and energy.
