About Arbor (b. Derrek Chow) is an artist and researcher creating immersive light experiences and novel interfaces. His works blur the boundaries between performance, installation, and artifact across diverse environments and contexts, and often yield new tools that serve as both means and forms of expression.
Arbor received a degree in software engineering at the University of Waterloo where he studied in the Expressive Input & Interaction Group (exii). He was a designer at RNDR and Human-Computer Interaction researcher at the ACME Lab in the ATLAS Institute and the NTU HCI Lab in National Taiwan University.
Arbor has taught at the Berlin University of the Arts, the Royal Academy of Art (KABK), the Shanghai Institute of Visual Art, and the University of Colorado Boulder. Selected venues include the National Asian Culture Center (ACC), The Lab, the B2 Center for Media, Arts & Performance, Gray Area, CURRENTS New Media Festival, and the Salone del Mobile Milano.
